From Restoration to Restoration. A conversation with another field of knowledge.
XXXI Studio is a multidisciplinary studio that draws inspiration from the construction process of each project to combine spatiality with design and identity. They brought in a young chef from the New Kids on the Block collective for an open and relaxed conversation around three blue wooden stools, a brushed stainless steel table and half a dozen cheese loaves from the Azores, elements that mark the atmosphere of Cascavel, the bar they recently opened in the Alfacinha neighbourhood of Santos, in a partnership between architecture and gastronomy.
An unlikely dialogue, or not, between these two practices, to talk about the connection to local environments, the reinterpretation of regional heritage and contemporary social dynamics, to build a new narrative. These are questions that feed the irreverent dialogue of a generation that is trying its best to make a difference in architecture. Listen to the experience of architects Carlos Aragão, João Romão and Hugo Maia and chef Pedro Abril. Four partners who got their hands dirty to cook up an eight-handed catering project.
