HOW DID WE GET HERE?

In the first episode of the Por Portas e Janelas programme, we try to understand how we got into this situation and what brought us here.
The exponential rise in the cost of housing, the combined result of the financialisation of housing and the lack of continued investment in public policies, means that every citizen is, or knows someone, affected by the crisis.
The Habitar Lisboa exhibition presented at the MAC /CCB’s South Garage served as the motivation for a kind of x-ray of the housing issue. The guests in this series cross several disciplinary fields, reflecting precisely the need to dialogue and envisage designs for the future through Sociology, Geography, Landscape and Architecture, thus constituting a survey of several voices from various areas.
In the words of guests from a wide range of disciplines, we have tried to find out what brought us here, what the problems are and what the causes are. A portrait is drawn of the current situation, mapping out the so-called housing crisis in which we live.

The various voices include Marta Sequeira, João Ferrão, Paulo Martins Barata, Joana Pestana Lages, Sandra Marques Pereira, Tiago Antero and Miguel Judas.
