João Ferrão

João Ferrão is a geographer and retired coordinating researcher at the Institute of Social Sciences of the University of Lisbon (ICS-UL), specialising in urban policies and spatial planning. He was Secretary of State for Spatial Planning and Cities and Pro-Rector of the University of Lisbon for Society and Local Communities. He has been the national coordinator of various international research projects and networks, namely under various European Commission and European Science Foundation (ESF) Framework Programmes. He is a member of the National Council for the Environment and Sustainable Development (CNADS).
