Struggle and fiction: The Housing Question
The serious housing crisis has led people to protest for the right to an affordable home, not only in Portugal, but also across Europe. This and other issues such as social inequality, migration and the ecological crisis are on the agenda of today’s ever-changing society. From 25 September to 6 October, the festival Uma Revolução Assim – Luta e Ficção: a Questão da Habitação invites a collective dialogue about what kind of society we want to build and promotes thinking about other ways of living and inhabiting. With artistic interventions in private homes, a series of podcasts, a video essay, lunchtime talks, debates and round tables on a travelling stage that transforms into a parliament, radio station, open-air cinema, kitchen or dining room, it will pass through various areas of Greater Lisbon.
Uma Revolução Assim is an initiative of the Goethe-Institut Portugal in collaboration with Culturgest-Fundação Caixa Geral de Depósitos, curated by Julia Albani, with curatorial consultancy from Ana Jara, Nuno Cera and Tiago Mota Saraiva, and in partnership with the Institut français du Portugal / MaisFRANÇA as part of the Franco-German Cultural Fund, Rádio Antecâmara, Mensagem de Lisboa, Largo Residências, Cozinha Popular da Mouraria, Associação Tempo de Mudar, Coletivo Pátio, Associação Mulheres na Arquitetura, Festa do Cinema Francês and the Mais do que Casas project. The festival also has the support of the St Bartholomew’s Association of Germans in Lisbon, DGARTES – Directorate-General for the Arts, and the media partnerships of Antena 1 and Antena 2 and the publicity support of Lisbon City Council.
