Permanências Efémeras

This episode brings together representatives from various cultural institutions, including MAAT, the Lisbon Architecture Triennale, the CCB and the Museu do Oriente, for a discussion on the life cycle of materials and the need to rethink the way we produce, use and extend the life of the resources involved in creating exhibitions and cultural projects.

Based on the idea that buildings, exhibitions and materials, too, have an end, the discussion reflects on the importance of planning for the reuse, refurbishment and circulation of resources right from the start of the design process. Drawing on experiences from museums, cultural centres and institutions dedicated to architecture and contemporary art, the discussion explores practices for reusing materials, models of collaboration between institutions and international examples that demonstrate the potential of shared platforms for resource management.

Amidst logistical challenges, paradigm shifts and new forms of cooperation, this episode invites reflection on the role of cultural institutions in promoting a more circular economy, exploring solutions that extend the life cycle of materials and foster a culture of sharing, responsibility and sustainability.
