A few metres away are Largo Rodrigues Cordeiro and Rua Francisco Sousa Coutinho. The latter was named after the opera singer, popularly known in Lisbon’s bohemia as Chico Redondo, which leads us to hear some of the most iconic arias for tenor, selected from the following operas: ‘Pagliacci’ (R. Leoncavallo), ‘Faust’ (Gounod) and ‘Falstaff’ (Verdi). To honour the composer Rodrigues Cordeiro, master of Portuguese philharmonics, we heard a selection of marches by John Philip Sousa.
