LINO DAMIÃO (Luanda, 1977) Encouraged by his father, he began to draw and paint from an early age, winning his first painting prize in 1989 from the National Union of Plastic Artists (UNAP). He studied drawing and painting at Barracão – Experimental School in Luanda (1985). He graduated in Plastic Arts from INFAC – Instituto Nacional de Formação Artística, Luanda (1997-2000) and took the Drawing and Printmaking course at UNAP – União Nacional de Artistas Plásticos (1988). He is a founding member of the Nationalists’ Pro-Memory Co-operative. He has taken part in various solo and group exhibitions in Angola, Cape Verde, Macau and Portugal. Among the exhibitions in which he has participated are ‘Lelu Kizua’ at Galeria Espaço Espelho D`Água, Lisbon (2021), ‘Mukandas da N’Guimbi’, Arquiteturas Film Festival Lisbon (2021), Trilogy ‘Restos, Rostos e Rastos’ Camões, Centro Cultural Português, Luanda (2018, 2017 and 2016), ‘Commuting, Os da Banda’ at Espaço Espelho D`Água, Lisbon (2016); ‘La Paragem’, Lisbon (2012); participated in the Literary Festival, Rota das Letras, Macau (2012); Lisbon Contemporary Art Fair (2010); Luanda Triennale (2007), among others.
