Jorge Figueira
Jorge Figueira is a Portuguese architect and academic, born in Vila Real in 1965. He graduated in Architecture from the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Porto in 1992 and received his PhD from the University of Coimbra, specialising in Theory and History, in 2009. He is an associate professor in the Department of Architecture at the Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of Coimbra. He is vice-president of the Scientific and Research Council of the Centre for Social Studies, UC. Visiting professor on the PhD programme in Architecture at the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Porto. Author of books including ‘Escola do Porto: Um Mapa Crítico’, ‘A Noite em Arquitectura’, ‘O Arquitecto Azul’, “A periferia perfeita. Post-modernity in Portuguese architecture”. Reviewer for the Público newspaper, in the area of architecture.
