João Rosas

João Rosas is a Portuguese filmmaker born in 1981, with a degree in Communication Sciences and Cinema. He began his career with award-winning short films such as Entrecampos (2012) and Maria do Mar (2015). In 2022, he made his first feature-length documentary, The Death of a City, which deals with gentrification in Lisbon. As well as being a filmmaker, he is the author of books of short stories and investigates the representations of labour in cinema. His work has been recognised at festivals such as DocLisboa and Caminhos do Cinema Português.
