Ivo Barão

Ivo Barão is a Portuguese architect born in 1986 in the south of Portugal. He graduated in Architecture from the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Porto (FAUP) and went on to study at the Accademia di Architettura di Mendrisio in Switzerland. In 2010, together with Peter Hutter, he founded the Baron-Hutter studio, based in St Gallen, Switzerland. The studio stands out for integrating multidisciplinary teams of artisans and artists, developing poetic and atmospheric projects in the fields of architecture, urban planning and landscaping.

Throughout his career, Ivo Barão has maintained close ties with academia. He was invited as a visiting professor at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) and collaborated with Christian Kerez at the ETH Zurich. He also took part as a speaker at the Porto Academy. In 2015, he was admitted to the Federation of Swiss Architects (FSA), reflecting the recognition of his contribution to contemporary architecture.
