Eduardo Souto de Moura
Eduardo Souto de Moura is a Portuguese architect born in Porto on 25 July 1952. He graduated in Architecture from the Porto School of Fine Arts in 1980. During his studies, he worked in Álvaro Siza Vieira’s office between 1974 and 1979, during which time he consolidated his professional training. In 1980, he won the competition for the Casa das Artes in Porto, marking the beginning of his independent career.
Throughout his career, Souto de Moura has developed projects of various scales, from single-family homes to large public facilities, both in Portugal and internationally. Among his most emblematic works are the Braga Municipal Stadium, the Paula Rego House of Stories in Cascais and the renovation of the Santa Maria do Bouro Monastery in Amares. His work has been recognised with important distinctions, including the Pritzker Prize in 2011 and the Golden Lion at the Venice Biennale in 2018.
