Carmelo Baglivo

Carmelo Baglivo, architect, founded BAN studio in 2015 together with Laura Negrini. Between 2016 and 2017, for the Reggio Children Foundation, they remodelled the Mauro Laeng nursery school at the D’Alessandro-Risorgimento integrated institute in Teramo, the Silvestro integrated institute in L’Aquila and the Elisabetta and Chiara Aquaro nursery school in Bari. He has taken part in various national and international competitions, and in 2017 he received a mention in the international competition The Bench 2017. With IaN+, he won the Gold Medal for Italian Architecture (First Work). With BAN, he won the prestigious competition for the new Piazza Transalpina in Gorizia, European Capital of Culture in 2025. Carmelo Baglivo’s drawings have been exhibited in various exhibitions, including ‘Cut “n” Paste’ at the MoMA in New York; ‘Corsair Drawings’ at the Italian Pavilion at the Venice Biennale in 2014, ‘Corsair Drawings’ at the Marino Marini Museum in Florence; Macro Museum in Rome; MAXXI Museum in Rome. Carmelo has been a contract teacher in Genoa and Ferrara. His latest publication is ‘Disambientamenti’.
