Álvaro Domingues
Álvaro Domingues is a Portuguese geographer and teacher, born in Melgaço in 1959. He has a PhD in Human Geography from the Faculty of Letters of the University of Porto and works as an associate professor at the Faculty of Architecture of the same university (FAUP), where he teaches on the Integrated Master’s and PhD programmes. He is also a researcher at the FAUP’s Centre for Architecture and Urbanism Studies (CEAU). Author of several books, such as A Rua da Estrada, Vida no Campo and Volta a Portugal, he reflects on the transformations of space in Portugal. The book The Longest Museum in the World is part of this context, exploring the landscape as a cultural and social expression. In addition to his academic work, he writes regularly for the newspaper Público.
