YAEL KARAVAN is an award-winning Israeli/British performer, dancer and director who has travelled through Europe, Russia, Brazil and Japan studying and working with various masters in the search for an authentic training method and a contemporary physical language of expression that links east and west, theatre and dance. Using elements of Butoh, dance, mime, clowning, physical and visual theatre, she explores the themes of memory, metamorphosis, the invisible and the notion of repeating cycles, interweaving dreamlike atmospheres with moments of humour, balancing on the fine line between the tragic and the comic, the intimate and the collective. He has been performing professionally since 1999, performing in theatres, festivals, as well as galleries and museums, developing theatrical and site/specific/responsive work around the world and has been a member of the award-winning Russian physical theatre company “Derevo”, Tadashi Endo’s “Mamu Dance Centre” and Yumiko Yoshioka’s “Ten Pen Chi”, among others.
