João Grama

João Grama is a photographer and visual artist born in Lisbon in 1975. Between 2005 and 2008, he attended the Advanced Photography Studies at Ar.Co – Centro de Arte & Comunicação Visual, in Lisbon. He is currently taking part in the Meisterschülerstudium programme at the Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst in Leipzig, Germany, with a grant from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.

His photographic work explores themes such as the relationship between man and nature, the use of traditional techniques and the representation of the natural world. In 2010, he was nominated for the European Photo Awards by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, and his work has been exhibited at venues such as the Centre Calouste Gulbenkian in Paris and the Deichtorhallen Kunst und Fotografie in Hamburg.

In addition, in 2012 he presented the solo exhibition “Ropes” at Espaço Arte Tranquilidade in Lisbon, and in 2009 he was nominated for the Anteciparte prize, taking part in a group exhibition at the Museu do Oriente, also in Lisbon.João Grama is a photographer and visual artist born in Lisbon in 1975.
